What makes good wedding invitation wording?
The first sentence sets the mood; the rest gives the details. Begin with a line or two from the heart, then state the date, venues and how to reply. In an online invitation the practical details – the map, the schedule, the dress code – have their own place, so your opening words can stay what you meant them to be: a personal message.

Greetings, RSVPs and gifts
Greeting. Ideally every guest receives an invitation addressed to them. With us it’s automatic: the top of the invitation reads “Dear Kate,” or “Dear Smith family,” – exactly as you entered it in your guest list.
RSVP. Give a clear deadline, typically 4–6 weeks before the wedding. In an online invitation guests reply with a single tap and add their companions’ names and menu choice.
Gifts. Phrase wishes about gifts gently, for example:
Your presence is the greatest gift. If you’d like to give something, a contribution to our honeymoon would be warmly appreciated.
We already have everything we need – each other. If you’d like to surprise us, a contribution towards our first home would mean a lot.
Dress code. Short and friendly: “Formal attire – kindly leave white to the bride.”
Tip: add something that’s only about you
A shared memory, an inside joke, the place where you met – one sentence like that instantly makes the invitation yours. In our designer, tap Ideas for more wording, poems and quotes you can insert with one click and make your own.
